Preparing Hospitality and Catering Students to the Working World

Pontianak, June 2010 - As a token of appreciation and to show concern towards the students who were competing for the “Hospitality and Catering” competition in Pontianak, Pontianak Mercure – one of the hotels under the Accor group, took the initiative to prepare the potential successors in the field of Hospitality earlier through the event "the Future with Accor". The event was held on Saturday, June 5, 2010 in the Ballroom, Mercure Pontianak, and was attended by approximately 150 students of first and second years students who were majoring in Hospitality and Catering, SMK Negeri 5, Pontianak.

On this occasion, the students were informed about the Accor group and Mercure Pontianak, got to know the Mercure Pontianak Management team, and also given the opportunity for Questions and Answers Session in the "sharing moment" program to prepare them to enter the world of Hospitality, delivered by Mr. Sapta Adi, Human Resources Manager, Mercure Sanur, Bali. 

"We also tested the preparation our brothers and sisters of the SMK Negeri 5, entering into the world of Hospitality by holding 2 competitions for the Hospitality students, making bed and rally tray at the same time. Three winners will be selected to win prizes from Mercure Pontianak", said Evaldo Desfarillo, Public Relations Manager, Mercure Pontianak.

The event was attended by Mr. Yuliardi Qamal, Chairman of the DPC PHRI Pontianak City and Drs. Musa, representative of the Pontianak City Department of Education. It is hoped that programs like this will make the students more matured in their preparation to enter the working life in the Hospitality industry.
