Clara Claudia and Danny were the best creepy costume winners among hundreds guests who attended the party. They won two return tickets to Jakarta and two nights stay at Novotel Mangga Dua Square Jakarta. The best favorite costumes were won by Mr and Mrs Kenneth Gales.

Halloween Celebration is very popular in USA and other western countries.  For the first time in Pontianak, Mercure Pontianak, the first and the only Mercure Hotel on the Equator are held Halloween Pool Side Party on 31st October 2009. Halloween Pool Side Party at Mercure Pontianak is started on 6 pm to 9 pm. The Pool Side area was decorated with Halloween accessories to give the creepy yet fun atmosphere. The guests were dressed uniquely, together with all the staff at Mercure Pontianak who were also dressed in Halloween Style. This Halloween Party was toned live music by DJ Adi ‘Hiper’ Prams.
    
The party was started with the MC inviting guests to play exciting games; there were a variety of vouchers to be win, such as breakfast vouchers in Mercure Pontianak and AClub enrolment vouchers that had been prepared by Mercure Pontianak management team. While enjoying the selection of unique menu that arranged by The Executive Chef, special Halloween live cooking, guests also enjoyed the horror movie that was being played in Swimming Pool area. The menu is also completed with dessert. Mercure Pontianak Halloween Pool Side Party was an  unforgettable experience for the guests who had attended as it was celebrated in Pontianak for the first time.
    
The origin of Halloween is from Ireland. It is also known as festival Samhain. The festival of Samhain celebrates the end of the “lighter half” of the year and beginning of the “darker half”. The ancient Celts believed that the border between this world and the otherworld became thin on Samhain, allowing those spirits to pass through. It is believed that the need to ward off harmful spirits led to the wearing of costumes and masks. Their purpose was to disguise oneself as a harmful spirits to ward off the evil ones. Since then, Halloween is got popular among children to adult. Halloween became the party to express themselves with many kinds of costumes.
