The International Solidarity Day
The
International Solidarity Day is a social activity that held by Accor
Hospitality on every December. Accor Hospitality has a total 862 hotels in 52
countries.
This year, Mercure Pontianak, located at Jl. Jendral Ahmad Yani, held International Solidarity Day on 10th December, from at 9 am - 3 pm, was well received by many, from students to TNI (the Indonesian Army). Everyone was enthusiastically registering themselves for the benefit of others. All of them have the same noble intention that a drop of blood can really help people who really needed it.
Mercure Pontianak together with The Indonesian Red Cross and PT Coca Cola, held this social activity. The event succeeded in attracting 266 volunteers, most of them Korem 121/ABW personnel, Pontianak Naval Base, Jalasenastri Ladies, Pontianak Air Force Base dan students from Tanjungpura University Pontianak. This event in Mercure Pontianak was the most attended one among the Accor hotel chains. This social activity was covered full page by Tribun Pontianak.
Other than, staffs and guests of Mercure Pontianak, other hotels also participated in this social activity. The Meranti Grand Ballroom was full of all volunteers; everyone was waiting patiently for their turn.
The Indonesian Red Cross (PMI) was very cautious in the blood transfusion procedure. The volunteers had to go through several stages before they could donate their blood. First, they have to be checked on blood tension and HB. Only the volunteers who met the requirements could donate their blood. Blood that had been drawn would then be checked for HIV Virus, Syphilis, Hepatitis B and C.

The International Solidarity Day was held by Accor Hospitality since 2006. The purpose of this activity was for the good of others and to help people around us. The aim of the theme ‘Drop of Life' in this social activity is to help those who are on medical treatment and in real need of blood transfusion. A drop of blood is precious for a life.
